The Delhi High Court has asked authorities to ensure that enough security personnel are deployed at the citys district courts for safety, while observing that district courts have ahuge footfall.

The court was hearing a batch of pleas on the safety and security in court premises, including a 2021 suo motu petition initiated by the HC after a shootout at Rohini district court in September 2021.

A division bench led by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan orally said he had visited district courts and theconstant refrain of its judges is that enough security personnel arent deployed there and that those deployed were sometimes20-30% short.

The bench, also comprising of Justice Mini Pushkarna, thereafter noted the submission of the Delhi High Court Bar Association that it would take up the issue of installation of boom barriers, proximity cards, RFID tags for lawyers cars, etc with the building and maintenance committee of the high court.This court has no doubt that as and when the issue is raised by the DHCBA, the committee will look into it expeditiously, the bench noted.
